What is CBD oil?
CBD oil is a blend of CBD extract mixed into some sort of inert carrier oil. This carrier oil could be something like coconut oil or hemp seed oil and is just used to hold the CBD extract and provide an easy way for application. This is slightly different from CBD tinctures. In CBD tinctures, high-proof alcohol is used as a solvent to extract the natural compounds of a cannabis plant. The alcohol provides a bitter taste, so often tinctures are mixed with other flavoring or sweetners. Due to this, most often you will instead encounter CBD oils. The tinctures you do see are many times simply mislabeled CBD oils.
What does full spectrum mean?
There are three types of cannabidiol, or CBD: CBD isolate, full spectrum, and broad spectrum. CBD isolate is the cannabinoid on its own. Often this is sold as a powered crystal that can be put into food or drink. Full spectrum CBD on the other hand is an extract containing other beneficial compounds of the cannabis plant, such as terpenes and other cannabinoids. Research shows that this fuller spectrum of compounds allows for a greater effectiveness within your body. Broad spectrum is the same as full spectrum, but it doesn’t contain any amount of THC. Full spectrum has a small percentage of THC, but less than 0.3% and not nearly enough to get you high.
