Full Spectrum CBD Tincture
CBD tinctures and CBD oils are all the craze these days, but what’s the difference between the two? More often than not, these terms are used interchangeably in sales, but there is indeed a technical difference between the two. At oHHo, we sell full spectrum CBD oils, but you may come across them in your search for full spectrum CBD tinctures. Nearly all CBD products are classified as oils, even though they may be called tinctures. We just take extra steps to be knowledgeable about our products and sell them accurately.
Tinctures vs Oils
A true tincture is an herbal extract suspended in alcohol, as opposed to an oil. In CBD tinctures, high-proof alcohol is used as a solvent to extract the natural compounds of a cannabis plant. To mask the bitter taste of the alcohol, tinctures are often mixed with sweeteners and flavoring, as well as vitamins or other extracts to meet the goals of the product. Because of the bitter taste, CBD tinctures are less commonly made and the ones you see are often just mislabeled oils.
CBD oils on the other hand is a blend of CBD extract and a carrier oil, such as coconut oil. In the case of full spectrum CBD oils, other cannabinoid compounds and terpenes are extracted from the hemp plant as well and mixed into the oil. This combination of cannabinoids allows for what researchers call ‘the entourage effect,’ boosting the health impact of the oil by providing a wider scope of cannabinoids.
Is one better than the other?
Both CBD tinctures and oils are similarly effective, especially full spectrum ones. The main difference in these products arise in the production process concerning the base ingredient. When deciding which option might be best for you, it's important to understand your preferences and goals.
CBD tinctures are not very common due to the ability for CBD to bind to fat particles in oil. If you're sensitive to either alcohol or certain types of oils it makes your choice obviously easier. CBD oils also tend to have less ingredients if you're prone to allergies or want to just keep it simpler. Overall you're going to encounter more CBD oils.
